MIFC 2008 : Team Australia (Again).

So now, the 2008 edition of the Malaysian International Fireworks Competition has come to an end. Shooting this event has given me many wonderful photographic experiences that I will treasure for the rest of my life. It is not the quality of my images that I am proud of.. on the contrary, I think that these images could be improved further with more experience and more events of such nature. However, it was the invaluable friendship and new experiences found during the course of shooting this event.. Who will ever forget the night which we had to climb the hills in the pouring rain to shoot Team Spain? Who will forget that night when all our cameras and lenses were drench with rain? Or the miscalculations of the camera settings which caused most of our images of Team Spain to be spoilt?

It has been a wonderful journey.. Therefore, i would like to thank the individuals mentioned below for giving me such an unforgetable experiences:

1) All members of FMDC for giving comments an uploading their pics after every event.. It is because of their pics in the FMDC site that I discovered the port in Precint 8.
2) To all my new found friends from FMDC such as Zul, Zilzal, Ikim, Arm, Skeller, Mozakim, Dashuki and Udangkara.. Thank you again, ur pics were superb as always and I will continously use your images as a benchmark for my future photographic endeavours.
3) My regular "photo-kaki" Cik Balqish and Diana Dee.. keep up your great work and thanks for introducing me to the FMDC site.
4) Mr. Arthur Teng whom I met while shooting Team China. Ur images have been an inspiration to me since the publication of your book "Rustic Malaysia". I hope that one day my images will measure up to ur work.
5) Last but not least, special thanks goes to my wonderful wife and two kids for allowing me to shoot this event twice a week for a month. Some of you may be wondering, why are there no pics of Team Canada? Well, it is because my wife and daughter attended the event with me and my camera was "forced" to stay at home.. huhuhu.

Until next year, keep in touch and most important of all, KEEP SHOOTING.

Wow!! Tribute to all of us...hemm...me too....thank u amril...bcoz of u and kak rue makes me wanna join this event even more....waiting for nxt yrs event...and....thank u so much for 'racun'ing me to get my very own dslr...hemm...i wonder when I will get one... ...would love to climb up that hill....since I wasn't there to experience such things that day.... The Camera Settings:

Tonite's camera setting was slightly different from the settings which i used during Team Malaysia's performance. This was due to the vast expense of dark skies in the shots which had caused the camera's metering to over-exposed the shots. These were the settings used:

Camera : Canon EOS 5D.
Lens : EF 70 - 200 mm. f/2.8 IS (L) lens.
Exposure Mode : Manual.
Exposure for all shots : f/22.0 at 20 seconds (no exposure compensation was done).
Metering : Spot metering taken from the right hand side of the bridge.
ISO 100 for all shots.
White Balance : Cloudy.
Picture Style : Standard.
Lens was focused manually with the AF switched off.

A very special appreciation and thanks goes to Mr Arthur Teng, a professional photographer and the author of the cofee-table book "Rustic Malaysia" who was fortunately shooting beside me tonite. Mr. Arthur, thanks for all the photographic advices given to me tonite for without them, i think my shots would be horribly over-exposed.

aha..finally..jumpa gak port yg dicari2 tu...
nxt one would be yg dkat tasik tu la..i supposed..hehe
